50,000 sq ft purpose-built greenhouse dedicated to the growth, cultivation, and production of recreational cannabis

Coming 2018

FIFTY FIRST PARALLEL is an Alberta-based pre-production applicant to become a licensed producer of cannabis, focused on the recreational market and led by a team of professionals with strong start-up and operational experience.
OUR OBJECTIVES ARE CLEAR: To build a commercial production facility with capacity to produce a high quality product at the lowest possible production costs

Facility Location

FIFTY FIRST’S cultivation facility will be located in the Sherring Business and Industrial Park in Lethbridge, Alberta, which is approximately 220 km SE of Calgary, Alberta. FIFTY FIRST has secured 5 acres of land that will accommodate its initial two phases of development. An additional 5 acres of adjacent, open land can be secured and will accommodate the company’s Phase 3 expansion. The land has complete utility access, limited overburden and is zoned for heavy industrial use. FIFTY FIRST continues to receive strong support from local city council and other stakeholders and Lethbridge has an abundant pool of skilled labour.

FIFTY FIRST intends to construct 180,000 square feet of purpose-built greenhouse cultivation facilities over three staged expansions and is expected to allow the company to produce up to 12,600 kg of cannabis annually. FIFTY FIRST’s sales application was submitted to Health Canada during the fourth quarter of 2016. Construction of the Phase 1 facility is planned for the fall of 2017. Phase 1 will consist of a 50,000 square foot greenhouse complex and 25,000 square foot custom built and proprietary production and office facility. Phase 1 is expected to have a production capacity of 3,500 kg per year.

Phase 1 - 50,000 sq ft Greenhouse Complex

FIFTY FIRST’s initial phase of development will consist of a 50,000 square foot greenhouse complex and 25,000 square foot custom built, proprietary production and office facility built on the company’s initial 5 acres of land. 12 growing rooms (approximately 4,200 square feet per room) are expected to produce up to 3,500 kg per year of cannabis. Each growing room will have fully internalized HVAC control, be temperature controlled using mechanical heating and cooling systems, and outfitted with CO2, humidity and climate control. The overall facility will be built based on level 9 security specifications and contain a 1,000 square foot vault allowing for 15,000 kg of storage.

Phase 2 - 30,000 sq ft Greenhouse Addition

FIFTY FIRST’s second phase of development will consist of a 30,000 square foot greenhouse complex expansion. Seven additional growing rooms will be built adjacent to Phase 1 and are expected to add an additional 2,100 kg per year of production capacity. Upon completion of Phase 2, FIFTY FIRST will have a total of 80,000 square feet of greenhouse cultivation facilities (19 growing rooms) and is expected to have the ability to produce up to 5,600 kg per year of cannabis.

Phase 3 - 100,000 sq ft Greenhouse Expansion

FIFTY FIRST plans to secure 5 acres of adjacent, open land and build a 100,000 square foot greenhouse expansion in Phase 3. 12 additional growing rooms are expected to add an additional 7,000 kg per year of production capacity. Upon completion of Phase 3, FIFTY FIRST will have a total of 180,000 square feet of greenhouse cultivation facilities (43 growing rooms) and is expected to have the ability to produce up to 12,600 kg per year of cannabis.

Why Lethbridge

Along with strong support from the local city council, FIFTY FIRST believes Lethbridge provides strategic benefits when it comes to growing cannabis.

Legalization of recreational cannabis is an increasingly likely outcome in Canada. The lack of Alberta-based cultivators means there will not be enough supply to meet demand post-legalization.
